It’s a precision-machined transmission shaft that carries the primary gear set, so straightness, bearing journal condition, and gear engagement surfaces are critical for durability and shift quality.
Primary shaft issues typically show as abnormal gearbox noise, metal on the drain plug, or hard shifting after a failure event.
