The originally Spanish manufacturer began making trials bikes in 1985 continuing the tradition begun by the likes of Bultaco, Montesa and OSSA in the 1960s and 1970s, and was actually founded by two former Bultaco employees after the historic company folded in 1983.
Its first model was the Halley 325 which was an immediate success and paved the way for a series of lightweight, powerful two-stroke trails machines which followed.
In 1993 GasGas successfully lured then three-time world trials champion from Italian rivals Beta who then went on to win three more world championships for GasGas. Later, rising star Adam Raga rode for GasGas, leading to six more outdoor and indoor titles. Throughout this period, GasGas TXT trials machines in various capacities were known for their lightweight frames, powerful engines and advanced suspension systems.
Since 2019 GasGas has been owned by Austrian manufacturer KTM, but its trails machines are still made in Spain. Its latest TXT trials machines remain two-strokes and range from 125 to 300cc.
