Routine service depends on a plug that seals reliably and doesn’t chew up threads, and oil load plug 974229 is the specified oil filler plug used across many RSV4 and Tuono V4 applications. The thread form and sealing face are designed to match the clutch-cover filler neck where it’s installed.
Replace it if the hex/drive is rounded, the sealing face is damaged, or the plug has been cross-threaded in the past. Always torque to spec and check the sealing interface or washer/O-ring condition as applicable to your cover version.
