Chain protection and debris control around the drive line is the job here, and AP8138593 is the chain guard listed for RSV 1000 and RSV 1000 Tuono models (1998–2005). It’s a body/guard component designed to match factory clearances around the chain run and front sprocket area.
A cracked or missing guard can lead to increased contamination and more frequent cleaning of the front sprocket cavity, plus higher risk of debris contact in wet use. During replacement, confirm the mounting tabs and threaded inserts are intact; stripped mounts often cause the guard to sit proud and rub under load.
