On Scarabeo 100 2T airbox setups, the filter element and guard work together to keep the media supported and protected during service, and air filter with guard AP8104041 is the OEM assembly for 2000 Scarabeo 100 2T (Yamaha engine) and Scarabeo 100 2T (Minarelli engine) airbox configurations. The guard helps prevent media deformation while maintaining the airflow the stock carb calibration expects.
Replace it if the filter material has deteriorated, the frame is warped, or the guard is cracked and no longer supports the element. A compromised filter here tends to show up as inconsistent jetting behavior and accelerated top-end wear from fine dust ingress.
