It’s produced to the original diameter and surface finish so fit-up remains tight without introducing play that accelerates wear in the mating bore.
When replacing a pin, inspect the receiving holes or bushings for ovaling and corrosion, since those usually cause looseness rather than the pin itself. Light lubrication and correct retention hardware matter more than torque in most pin applications.
