Loose or notchy steering on certain Piaggio platforms often traces back to missing or pitted rolling elements, and the bearing ball 002139 is specified as an individual ball component used in selected front-end/steering assemblies across multiple compatible models. It’s sold as a standalone part in the OEM system, which is typical where the ball count or size is fixed by the steering head design.
The key when replacing is consistency: don’t mix worn and new balls in the same race and don’t substitute a “close enough” diameter. Any mismatch shows up as uneven load distribution, accelerated brinelling, and that familiar center notch when the bars pass straight ahead.
