It’s a simple part, but it controls contact area and helps keep fastener preload from digging into softer mating surfaces.
Use it anywhere the diagram calls for a 5 mm bore washer under an M5 screw or nut, particularly against sheet metal tabs and light brackets. If you’re chasing squeaks, loosening, or ovalized mounting holes, restoring the correct washer stack is often part of the fix.
