Model Description
For a brief, 10-year period between the mid-‘90s and mid-Noughties, Japanese manufacturers Suzuki and Honda tried to beat Ducati at its own game – V-twin sportsters – with mixed results. The VTR1000F, better known as the Firestorm, was Honda’s road offering (it’s track-orientated VTR1000SP is dealt with elsewhere) and was arguably the most successful, certainly commercially, of the bunch. Built between 1997 and 2005 it was more sports-tourer than out-and-out sportster, its 97bhp, 996cc twin versatile and flexible and its chassis sweet both in town and out in the twisties. Post-2001 versions were better yet with an increased tank range, but all are durable, versatile and appealing, even today.
