Model Description
If, in sports-tourer VFR1200F guise, Honda’s all-new V4 has been a little underwhelming, it’s proved more successful in its second incarnation as an adventure bike, as the VFR1200X Crosstourer, as launched in 2012. In this form it’s detuned slightly (down from 160 to 127bhp with a corresponding increase in midrange torque) and is carried in a more handsome, adventure-style chassis complete with tasty wire wheels. As such, it might lack quite the performance of the F, but its 127bhp is on par with most adventure rivals, it’s also sumptuously comfortable, well built and there’s enough adventure-style accessories to satisfy, too. Not quite a class-leading GS, maybe, and no off-roader, either, but the X is a credible, classy alternative and great value used.
