Model Description
Although Honda’s monster GoldWing tourer had been around since 1975, first as a liquid-cooled flat four in, successively, GL1000, GL1100 and GL1200 forms, it was when it was fully revised into 1520cc flat-six GL1500 guise in 1988 that it truly became a world beater and the definitive ‘full dresser’ tourer – so much so that it survived virtually unchanged for a further 12 years. With peerless, creamy drive from that 100bhp flat six, sumptuous comfort for two, masses of equipment and luggage capacity and huge refinement nothing, really, came close as a luxury tourer. It was even a surprisingly good handler and good fun, too. Although now aging and superceded it was a huge success and retains a loyal following.
